First Time to Kajang, by Bonnie Chong Kai Hui

I always find depressed and lost in this big city. Too many people, too many cars, too many works, too many assignments, too many activities and events. I hardly find a time to slow down, to relax my mind by just sitting in front of my desk to have a cup of coffee or just have a walk at the Tasik Varsiti. This city is too crowded and too busy.

I feel that it was time for me to go for a vacation. This middle semester break, I have planned to go Genting. 

Before that, to complete my university course, social engagement, I need to go to Kajang to help at the heritage centre and the story hall. Firstly, I am not so happy to spend my holiday there. I understand it was something meaningful to our society. It should be our responsible as a university student to contribute to society. But my time really pack with different work and volunteering job too. I always think that is this mandatory volunteering really necessary.

After I reached here, I changed my mind. For being at the MRT for about 2 hours, I realised that time can be so slow even in this busy city. I calm and rest on the long time to Kajang. I go to the story hall on first day and the heritage centre on the next three days. Time does really slowed down when doing those documentaries work. This also give me a chance to work together with my coursemates. I know I have missed too much time with them.

Time slows down here. Old shops, traditional food stalls and beautiful temple. Although the car here is still a lot, but it is more similar to the my childhood lifestyle, with sweets and biscuits and coffee, with sate, cendol and the special hot pepper soup.

It is really quite a memorable days spent at Kajang. I relax and learned a lot. For the question whether mandatory volunteering job is necessary I still don't have the answer. However, I would say that I never feel regret to come here. I'm happy Kajang become one of my exploring experience in west Malaysia. Perhaps it will be my next vacation once again as I yet discovered the whole map. 

It has been a precious memory for me in this new city.
